To fund the full cost of four days of creative community workshops with Amy Neville plus assistants at Fornighty Hall, Saturday 24, Sunday 25 May and Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 June, plus extra finishing time, venue hire and materials, to create two giant puppets and smaller hand held puppets for ‘The Wave’ community parade on Sunday 7 September as part of Nairn Book and Arts Festival.
Nairn Book and Arts Festival is a 9 day celebration of the arts and culture in Nairn and Nairnshire, this year it had a maritime and coastal theme. It offered a packed programme of events including author talks, live music, art exhibitions, creative workshops, schools outreach programme, creative events in our rural communities and a day of free live music and family-based activities celebrating our natural environment, with a themed community parade with ‘water creature’ large scale puppets and ‘shoals’ of willow and tissue fish. We aimed to be as inclusive as possible, keeping our programme varied, ticket prices low, and organising free events and activities.
